  • Celebration of the new Dutch king

    On 30th of April 2013, the Kingdom of the Netherlands welcomed the new Dutch King Willem Alexander. The inaugeration ceremony took place in the nieuwe kerk in Amsterdam. Throughout the world the Dutch celebrated this special day, the Holland alumni in Thailand had the honour to watch the inaugeration ceremony live at the grounds of the Netherlands Embassy in Bangkok and celebrated this special occasion together with Dutch nationals and other invited guest in Thailand.  King Willem Alexander is the youngest European Monarch and is the first king of the Netherlands in 120 years.   please find some pictures in our photogallery: http://www.naat.or.th/en/?show-gallery_66
  • Annual General Meeting 2013

    On Thursday, 28 February 2013, the NAAT annual general meeting took place at the residence of the Netherlands embassy in Bangkok. Before the AG meeting, H.E. Mr. Joan Boer, the Netherlands Ambassador to Thailand gave a talk on “The ASEAN Economic Community and Thailand: an insight look from a diplomat” upon invitation of the NAAT. The talk of the ambassador was very much appreciated by the NAAT members present during the event. During the AGM a new President was elected and Dr. Sumeth Chailertvanitkul was elected by the members unanimously.   On behalf of our Naat members we would like to welcome and congratulate Dr. Sumeth Chailertvanitkul (ISS) as the new NAAT President taking over the chair from the former President Dr. Wicha Jiwalai. Herewith, also on behalf of all members we would like to express our thanks and gratitude to Dr. Wichai Jiwalai for his term as President of the NAAT. The event attracted both junior and senior alumni and almost 100 alumni attended the event.

    On Friday 21st of December 2012, Nuffic Neso Thailand organized a special thank you and year end dinner for their alumni and students who helped out at Nuffic Neso Thailand's activities. A special guest was on board who gave a special performance of his Thai way of "gang nam style" in Bangkok. he video performance can be seen on the Netherlands alumni Association Thailand facebook.    The evening started of with a welcome speech by the Director of Nuffic Neso Thailand, Mr. Soehirman Patmo and Dr. Wicha Jiwalai, president of the Netherlands alumni association. The activities throughout the evening continued with karaoke songs and lucky draws.  We would like to thank our alumni students and ofcourse our sponsor heineken who made this year-end possible.    
  • Charity Golf Tournament

        On Thursday, 1 November 2012 the Netherlands Alumni Association Thailand organized a Charity Golf Tournament at Bangkok Golf Club Pathumthani.  Dr. Wicha Jiwalai, President to NAAT took the lead with Almost 40 groups participated. The income after all expenses will partly be donated to some projects which are under Royal Patronage of H.R.H Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn and the rest will be kept for NAAT’s future activities.    The tournament was followed by a dinner with some entertainments. The winner of this tournament has received a Royal Trophy from H.R.H. Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn. One of the runner ups got a trophy from Mr. Soehirman Patmo, Director of Nuffic Neso Thailand. Dutch beer brewer Heineken sponsored Heineken Beer throughout the evening. On behalf of NAAT would like to thank all the sponsors who made this event possible.

    We would like to invite our alumni to join another movienight at Nuffic Neso Thailand. "Sonny Boy" tells a true love story about two ordinarary people. A typical Dutch girl Rika, mother of 4 children and a 17 year younger guy from Surinam. Their loves survives all the presumptions and obstructions of the sometimes cruel world but finally is unable to  cope with the brutal and devistating power of war. The movie will be screened on the 16th of August 2012 at 19:00 at Nuffic Neso Thailand. Seats are limited so reservation is a must! This will be a great opportunity to strengthen our relationship and enjoy a fun day together “Two wheels through the field of Amphawa”.   • IHS refresher course: Affordable Resilient Housing for Vulnerable Communities

    Country: The Philippines, Manila Dates: 12 November 2012- 23 November 2012Application deadline: 31 August 2012 Target audience: The course is intended for NFP Alumni from South East Asia, mainly, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. Alumni from other countries from the region can also apply. Alumni are allowed to invite colleagues, if well motivated and to a limited extent.The course targets NFP alumni who are housing professionals occupying positions in different sectors of society, namely local and national government, private sector and NGOs. Participants will be chosen according to their professional experience in one or more of the following topics: housing and human settlement planning, housing technologies, environmental planning, green technologies and gender planning. The course is also addressed to those alumni working in academic and research institutions who are interested in sustainable housing and the relationship between housing and the environment (e.g. climate change, disaster risk management, etc) Objectives: The main objective of the course is to build amongst participants a clear understanding of the relationship between housing, poverty, vulnerability and climate change. Specifically, the course aims at building an understanding of how vulnerable groups are affected and play a role in shaping necessary planning interventions, development strategies and policy formulation, which are in line with international, national and local concerns dealing with the creation of sustainable and resilient human settlements. Course curriculum:• Introduction: The meaning of urban sustainability from the perspective of housing.• Module One: Sustainable housing policy and planning• Module Two: Challenges to sustainable housing: climate change adaptation and mitigation through resilient housing strategies• Module Three: The role of vulnerable groups in sustainable housing and climate change • Module Four: Sustainable human settlements and gender equality: policy, planning and implementation • Conclusion: Groups’ recommendations on the way forward to disseminate the experience and knowledge gained in resilient housing strategies.The course includes, among others, lectures in sustainable housing technologies, disaster risk management, and resilient communities. The course is a combination of lectures, guided debates, site visits to institutions and relevant projects, presentation of papers by participants, and group work.
