The Netherlands Alumni Association Thailand dated back in 1965, when two alumni's came with the idea to have an Alumni association in Thailand. Both alumni’s had the same goals and objectives.
The two initiators were Dr. Thip Tipchaimetha and Mr. Sanong Rodphaithong who have received a financial support from Mr. Jongens Head of the International Education Department, Nuffic in the Hague.
On 9 October 1971, the Netherlands Alumni Association was officially registered and recognized under the name The Netherlands Alumni Association Thailand (NAAT).
The official opening and the first annual meeting of the Naat was held on the 5 March 1972 at the Reuksabutr School in Krungthep Thonburi. The first president that was elected by the board was Mr. Sanong Rotphoathong. Every 2 years the board elects a new president.

Naat is under the Royal Patronage of Princess Sirindhorn
On 3 September 2003 the Netherlands Alumni Association came under the Royal
Patronage of Princess Sirindhorn and is the official sole community for Alumni of Dutch higher education and research institutions in Thailand. Currently the Naat have more then 300 official registered members.
